EIP:Introduction to Ethereum Improvement Proposals
EIP is a standardized proposal put forward, discussed, and implemented by the Ethereum community for protocol upgrades, interface specifications, or new features, and is also an important mechanism for coordinating ecosystem participants.
EIP What is
EIP is an abbreviation for “Ethereum Improvement Proposal” and can be viewed as a public upgrade blueprint. A proposal explains what is intended to change, why the change is needed, and how it might be implemented, enabling developers, users, and other participants to discuss and reach consensus around the same approach.
Common types and their roles
EIP may cover different areas: core proposals address changes such as protocol updates and hard forks; networking proposals focus on client communication; interface proposals specify how users or applications interact with Ethereum;ERC is commonly used to establish application-layer standards such as token standards. This classification helps the community understand the scope of a proposal’s impact.
From proposal to implementation
A EIP typically begins as a publicly released draft, after which the community reviews it, discusses it, and proposes revisions. Once consensus has formed and the proposal is finalized, it is prepared for implementation, often being deployed as part of a planned network upgrade.EIP-1559、ERC-721 and EIP-4844 demonstrate different uses of this mechanism.
