Five Ways to Improve Account and Digital Asset Security
This article introduces five account security measures: using RSA API key pairs, restricting API access IP, setting up a wallet address whitelist, using YubiKey for two-factor authentication, and lowering withdrawal limits. They protect API communications, narrow the scope of access, reduce the risk of erroneous transfers, prevent logins using only a password, and limit potential losses after an account is compromised, respectively.
Protect API communications and access sources
When using API for transactions, you can generate RSA a key pair, register the public key with the platform, and use the corresponding private key to create signing requests. The public and private keys have different roles, and the private key must be stored securely. At the same time, set an API key whitelist IP to allow only approved addresses to access it; requests from other sources will be rejected.
Limit wallet addresses that can receive funds
A wallet address whitelist specifies which addresses can receive digital assets transferred from the account. Once enabled, transfers to addresses not on the list will be blocked, helping reduce the risk of losses caused by entering an incorrect address, operational errors, or transferring funds to fraudsters. Carefully verify and maintain the list of trusted addresses before using it.
Strengthen login protection and control withdrawal losses
YubiKey is a two-factor authentication tool that requires a physical device or NFC connection. Even if the username and password are exposed, logging in is difficult without the device. In addition, setting a withdrawal limit for a given period can limit financial losses if the account is compromised and provide time to detect anomalies and take action.
