Ethereum foundation: A Beginner's Guide
The Ethereum foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the development of Ethereum and related open-source technologies. It primarily promotes community cooperation and ecosystem growth through ecosystem funding, developer exchanges, and talent support.
Role and Mission
The Ethereum foundation was established in 2014 to support the development, improvement, and adoption of Ethereum and related technologies. It focuses on decentralized applications, open and transparent systems, public education, and industry cooperation, but is not Ethereum's controlling institution and does not unilaterally determine the network's direction.
Ecosystem Support Program
The Ecosystem Support Program provides funding as well as nonfinancial assistance such as resources and guidance to projects and organizations in the Ethereum community. It grew from the earlier Ethereum Grants Program and aims to help innovative projects advance their work and accelerate development of the ecosystem as a whole.
Exchange and Talent Support
Devcon is an annual developer conference that the foundation has organized since 2014, providing a platform for developers, researchers, and community participants to exchange ideas and share knowledge. The fellowship program addresses representation gaps across cultural and economic backgrounds by identifying and supporting talent to lower barriers to participation.
