Actively Validated Services (AVS) Beginner’s Guide
Actively Validated Services continuously inspect transactions or services through a network of validators, helping blockchain systems improve security, accuracy, and reliability. Typical processes include submission, broadcasting, validation, consensus, and recording, and they can be used in smart contracts, DeFi, and restaking scenarios.
AVS What is it
Actively Validated Services (AVS) are systems in which a network of validators continuously monitors and verifies transactions or services. Validators are typically nodes or participants in a blockchain network. They are responsible for checking whether information is authentic, correct, and compliant with established rules, thereby maintaining the integrity, security, and accuracy of the system.
How validation works
A typical validation process begins when a user submits a transaction or service request, after which the request is broadcast to validators. Validators check its authenticity and correctness and reach consensus on its validity; only after validation is complete is the transaction written to the blockchain. Validators also continuously monitor subsequent activity to identify anomalies promptly.
Key value and applications
Continuous validation helps identify fraudulent or malicious activity, reduce errors and data discrepancies, and strengthen users’ trust in the system. In smart contracts,AVS it can monitor execution conditions; in DeFi, it can help verify financial transactions such as lending and borrowing while maintaining the integrity and security of records.
EigenLayer Example
Evidence will EigenLayer list AVS blockchain projects that adopt the system. It is built on Ethereum and allows users to restake Ether, using the same stake to provide security for multiple services and protocols. This demonstrates one way that AVS can be combined with blockchain shared security mechanisms.
