Real-World Assets (RWAs)RWA Learning Guide
Learn how real-world assets enter blockchain and decentralized finance through tokenization, and understand their liquidity, transparency, and regulatory challenges.
RWA What are they?
Real-world assets (RWAs)RWA are physical assets with intrinsic value, such as real estate, commodities, and works of art. After tokenization, they can be represented on the blockchain as digital tokens denoting asset value and ownership, and used for buying, selling, or trading on decentralized finance platforms.
Benefits of Tokenization
Tokenization can fractionalize ownership of physical assets, lower the barriers to transfer, and create more opportunities for circulation for assets that were previously less liquid. Metadata in the tokens can also record and verify the authenticity and ownership of assets. This information can be viewed publicly, helping improve transaction transparency and credibility.
Applications and Challenges
RWA It seeks to connect traditional finance with decentralized finance, enabling digital assets and traditional assets to coexist within the same financial system. However, legal requirements and financial regulation across different jurisdictions, the security of the link between tokens and physical assets, and platforms’ ability to process large volumes of transactions and data will all affect its development.
