Seed Tag: Identifying Risk Indicators for Early-Stage Crypto Projects
The Seed Tag indicates that a cryptocurrency is still in the early stages of development and may lack a mature product, stable user base, and long-term historical data. As a result, its risk and volatility are generally higher than those of mature assets.
What the Seed Tag Means
The Seed Tag is an information label Binance assigns to cryptocurrencies in the early stages of development. Projects bearing this tag may not yet have a usable product, mature user base, or long-term performance record, and may experience more dramatic price volatility, lower liquidity, and lower trading volume.
How the Tag Works
The tag is displayed directly next to the token on the platform, making it easier for users to see the asset's early-stage status when researching it. Such tokens may have thin order books, limited trading activity, and potentially larger price movements. The tag is provided solely as a risk warning and does not represent a recommendation or endorsement by the platform.
Difference from the Monitoring Tag
The Seed Tag primarily reflects the risks arising from a project's relative newness and limited validation. The Monitoring Tag, by contrast, indicates that an asset may have unusual activity, ongoing issues, or be subject to delisting review. Both are informational tools, but they indicate different sources of risk and project statuses.
