PancakeSwap Beginner's Guide
PancakeSwap is a decentralized exchange platform that originated on BNB Smart Chain and now supports multiple chains, primarily enabling token swaps through automated market makers and liquidity pools.
Platform and Trading Principles
PancakeSwap launched on 2020 in BNB Smart Chain, initially focusing on swaps of BEP-20 tokens, and later expanding into a multichain platform supporting multiple token standards DEX. Rather than relying on a traditional order book, it uses an automated market maker model that allows users to trade directly with liquidity pools.
Liquidity and Yield Mechanisms
Users can provide tokens to liquidity pools and receive Liquidity Provider (LP) tokens, representing their share of the pool and corresponding fee rights. The platform also offers liquidity mining, allowing users to lock LP tokens to earn CAKE tokens and other rewards, but participants should still understand the associated risks themselves.
Trading and Operational Features
PancakeSwap V3 added non-fungible liquidity positions and custom price ranges. Smart Router searches across different liquidity sources for better execution paths, while limit orders let users preset execution prices; the Zap Function allows users to add or remove liquidity using only one token, simplifying the process.
