Hong Kong Legislative Council member Duncan Chiu said that new licensing regulations for virtual asset trading services, custody, and other areas are expected to be submitted to the Legislative Council in the second half of 2026 and targeted for passage by year-end or early 2027.
The Hong Kong SFC added Vebit and five related websites to its list of suspicious platforms, saying that the company is not licensed and is suspected of providing unlicensed digital asset trading services.
Duncan Chiu said that Hong Kong's new licensing regulations covering virtual asset trading, custody and other activities are planned to be submitted to the Legislative Council in the second half of 2026 and passed before early 2027.
