Atomicals ProtocolAn open-source system for creating UTXO static or dynamic digital objects on blockchains that adopt the model.
B-TokenBinance’s official name for a series of fully collateralized wrapped tokens, each B-Token representing a transferable version of the original asset on other compatible blockchains.
Chain AbstractionA design approach that simplifies cross-chain interactions, so agents and users do not need to handle the technical differences between multiple blockchains.
DePINA decentralized physical infrastructure network that uses blockchain technology for physical infrastructure such as energy, supply chains, and transportation.
Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC)A specialized messaging protocol adopted by the Cosmos ecosystem that enables independent blockchains to exchange assets without relying on a single centralized operator.
InteroperabilityThe ability of different blockchains to connect, communicate, and exchange assets and data.
Layer 2 SolutionRefers to scaling protocols built on top of existing blockchains that improve scalability through mechanisms such as state channels, sidechains, or rollups.
Messaging protocolsTransmitting data and instructions between different blockchains, enabling an application on one chain to trigger operations on another chain.
PlasmaA blockchain scaling framework that uses layered child chains to handle large volumes of processing tasks and reduce the load on the main chain.
SidechainsAn independent blockchain that runs in parallel to the main chain and connects to it via a bridge, while having its own consensus mechanism and security model.
UTXOUTXO Also known as an “unspent transaction output,” it is a model used by Bitcoin and other blockchains to organize and track available transaction value.
child chainsA smaller chain built on top of the main chain that can run customized smart contracts and process specific tasks according to predefined rules.
nodesParticipate in blockchain networks and, when competing chains emerge, tend to follow the chain with more cumulative work.
off-the-main-chainA scaling approach that moves most processing off the main chain and redistributes it across a series of smaller functional chains.
side chainsA smaller blockchain in the Plasma framework used to offload processing from the main chain, with the evidence describing it as Ethereum a smaller replica of the side chains blockchain.
sidechainsA blockchain that runs in parallel with the main network and interacts with it through a two-way connection.
Relay cross-chain bridgeA cross-chain bridge that forwards information between different blockchains and typically relies on a specialized network to provide shared security.
InteroperabilityThe ability of different blockchains to work together and exchange information or execute operations despite differences in their technical rules and implementation methods.
Transaction nonceA sequential counter assigned to a wallet address on account-model blockchains, used to order transactions and prevent duplicate submissions.
Traditional NFTTokens typically minted on smart contract-enabled blockchains to represent digital items and potentially link to off-chain metadata.
Blockchain bridgeA protocol that connects two blockchains and supports the interaction of assets or messages between them.
Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC)a tokenized Bitcoin backed by reserves held by a custodian, with BTC collateralization at a 1:1 ratio and circulating on other blockchains.
AltcoinsRefers to cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin, which may be built on dedicated blockchains or use existing networks.
Surround votingThe act of validators voting for two conflicting blockchains or transaction sets in an attempt to split the network or manipulate the consensus process.
Federated cross-chain bridgeA cross-chain bridge in which asset transfers between different blockchains are approved by a group of trusted entities.
