Trump Again Calls for Interest Rates to Fall to 1% or Lower; Federal Reserve Emphasizes Inflation Risks and Raises Rates

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has taken the opposite stance, raising the target range for the federal funds rate to 3.75%-4.00%. The disagreement over the interest-rate path is becoming one of the most visible conflicts between the White House and Federal Reserve policy frameworks. After the Federal Reserve's September rate hike, Trump said U.S. interest rates “should be 1% or lower,” citing the United States' best credit in the world and an economy increasing investment.
