Temasek warns 2027 two major market risks for the year:AI trade unwinding and inflation pushing up interest rates
According to BlockBeats,October 7, Temasek Chief Investment Officer Rohit Sipahimalani said that, entering 2027, the key risks facing global markets are an unwinding of the AI trade and persistent inflation driving interest rates and bond yields higher, ultimately triggering a repricing of equity markets. He said, “An unwinding of the AI trade is the biggest risk,” but he does not currently believe this risk is imminent.
As of the end of 2026 March, Temasek's net portfolio value reached 518000000000 Singapore dollars (approximately 405000000000 USD), and it plans to increase the proportion of AI-related investments from approximately 6%currently to a high of 2031 in 15%. However, Sipahimalani said Temasek is increasing the liquidity of its AI investments, planning to raise the share of public-market assets within its AI exposure from approximately 50%to 70%to 75%, enabling more flexible position adjustments as the industry changes rapidly.
He also warned that if inflation persists and drives interest rates and long-term bond yields higher, it could place dual pressure on highly valued equities and capital-intensive AI projects. Temasek has not changed its long-term bullish stance on AI, but is reducing the potential risk of market repricing by increasing public-market assets and liquidity.
