A guide published by PANews states that when using an iPhone as a crypto cold wallet, hardware generation, system patches, unlock status, and key management affect its actual security.
OneKey founder Yishi said that using iPhone as a cold wallet should have a minimum security threshold of iPhone 17 or newer models and iOS 27, and recommended migrating devices regularly. Dedicated hardware signing devices should still be prioritized for large amounts of assets.
PANews reported that Justin Drake said AI could accelerate classical algorithm attacks on ECDSA with the risk potentially emerging within months in an extreme scenario, and recommended that large holders plan to use new addresses that have never signed a transaction.
