51% AttackA situation in which malicious actors gain control of most of the network's hash power, potentially threatening blockchain operations.
51% attackAlso known as a majority attack, this refers to an attack in which the attacker controls more than half of the blockchain network’s hashing power and may disrupt consensus, transaction confirmation, or carry out double-spending.
BGP hijackingThe technique whereby an attacker advertises a false route, redirecting network traffic to infrastructure under their control.
CentralizationAn arrangement that concentrates control, authority, and decision-making power over a system or network in a single node or a small group.
CentralizedRefers to the structural characteristic whereby control, authority, and decision-making are concentrated in a single center or a small group.
Digital signaturesA cryptographic signature used to confirm that the sender actually controls the funds they intend to spend.
Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO)An offline signing technology for digital asset cold storage that reduces the risk of human error and unauthorized access through automation and security controls.
Private KeyThe private key used to sign transactions and control the corresponding on-chain assets.
Wallet honeypotsWallet honeypots refer to scammers publicly displaying wallet credentials that appear to hold assets, enticing others to add fees or attempt transfers, while using control mechanisms to trap or siphon off funds.
Web2In the current mainstream internet model, users’ data and history are typically stored and controlled by the platforms they use.
Web3A vision that emphasizes user control over digital identities, data, and assets, and uses technologies such as blockchain to build open internet services.
benchmarkingRunning a set of tests or programs under controlled conditions and comparing the relative performance of hardware or software against established benchmarks.
cryptographic keyA secret value used to control the encryption or decryption process.
hash rateA measure of the computational power controlled by miners; its proportion of the network's total hash rate affects the likelihood that selfish mining will succeed and be profitable.
multisigA common abbreviation for multisignature, indicating that transaction authorization is jointly controlled by multiple private keys or participants.
transactions per second (TPS)A metric measuring the number of transactions the network can process per second; the data in the text comes from a controlled testnet rather than mainnet measurements.
white-hat hackersSecurity researchers authorized to conduct controlled attack testing.
Proprietary AMMAn automated liquidity pool controlled by a single pricing engine that adjusts quotes based on external market data, trade size, and inventory risk.
Trading strategyA comprehensive plan covering trading activities, specifying the assets, entry and exit conditions, position sizing, risk controls, performance tracking, and other related matters.
Ethereum FoundationA nonprofit organization that supports the development, education, and community collaboration of Ethereum and related technologies; it is not a central authority controlling Ethereum.
BotnetA network of infected computers controlled by attackers that can work together to launch distributed denial-of-service attacks or send spam.
Crypto walletA crypto wallet is a tool that enables users to access and directly control assets and identities on public cryptocurrency networks.
DecentralizationAn arrangement that transfers control and decision-making authority from a single person or institution to a distributed network.
Eclipse attackA network-layer attack that controls all network connections of a single blockchain node, isolates it from honest nodes, and manipulates the information it sees.
Stop-lossA risk-control arrangement used to limit potential losses; in this pattern, it is often set above the upper trendline of the flag.
Direct IssuanceA method of creating the entire token supply through a single transaction output, with the creator controlling the supply and distribution.
Private blockchainIn the text, this refers to a permissioned blockchain typically controlled by a single entity with restrictions on participation.
Private KeySecret information used to sign transactions; leakage may result in loss of control.
Private key mnemonic phraseA private credential that can be used to recover a wallet and control the associated assets.
Self-custodySelf-custody is a way for users to protect and manage their assets themselves while retaining direct control over them.
Self-custodial walletA self-custodial wallet is a wallet in which the user controls the private keys, and the wallet service provider cannot control the user's assets on the user's behalf.
Self-custodyThe user withdraws the tokens to a compatible wallet they control for safekeeping, rather than leaving them in an account on a centralized platform.
Permissioned blockchainA blockchain network that restricts transaction validators and the parties permitted to interact with ledger information, and is typically controlled by a single centralized entity.
