Apple says iPhone Duo pre-order demand is “unprecedented,” with shipping schedules pushed back to next year January End
BlockBeats reports that October 17, Apple said that pre-order demand for its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, was “unprecedented.” Within minutes of pre-orders opening, the shipping date was moved from November to December, and was subsequently pushed back further to 2027 January end. All storage configurations and colors from 256GB to 2TB are affected. Apple said it is working intensively to improve delivery efficiency, with initial deliveries set to begin October 23.
iPhone Duo starts at 1999 USD, with the highest-end configuration priced at 3200 USD, and features a 7.6-inch inner display. Its iOS experience has been redesigned for the foldable form factor. Apple is facing the widespread component shortages affecting the consumer electronics industry this year, particularly insufficient memory chip supplies, which has also forced it to raise prices across its product lineup. Apple will also launch a touchscreen-equipped MacBook Pro and other devices later this month.
Bloomberg Intelligence analysts Anurag Rana and Josh Christensen raised their sales forecasts, saying iPhone Duo sales could exceed the previous forecast of 2027 fiscal year, which projected 14000000 units and 28000000000 USD in sales. If the model successfully attracts existing iPhone Pro and Pro Max users to upgrade, the overall average selling price of the iPhone could also rise significantly.
Apple shares rose 0.43%on Friday to 343.46 USD, up 5 over the past 1.61%.
