AnchorWatch obtains Nevada charter to provide Bitcoin custody services

BlockBeats News,October 19, according to The Block, AnchorWatch Trust Company officially opened this Monday, becoming a qualified Bitcoin custodian chartered in Nevada. The company told the media that the Nevada Financial Institutions Division has formally authorized it to provide custody services. Its target clients primarily include fiduciaries, publicly listed companies, trust institutions, and high-net-worth individuals requiring qualified Bitcoin custody services.

In terms of its fee model, AnchorWatch uses a fixed USD fee rate based on vault size, rather than charging a percentage of assets under custody, with monthly custody fees capped at 10,000 USD. This means that once a client's monthly fee reaches the cap, no additional custody costs will be incurred, whether through additional Bitcoin purchases or an increase in asset value due to appreciation of holdings.

With respect to key management and custody architecture, AnchorWatch offers institutional clients different options. Under its flagship model, AnchorWatch Trust Company holds the core key required for qualified custody, while allowing clients, fiduciaries, or executives to hold an additional key themselves. Under another distributed custody model, control of keys is distributed among multiple parties and jointly managed by AnchorWatch, U.S.-based BitGo, and Isle of Man-based CoinCorner, further reducing the risk of a single point of failure.
