US media: Trump considers military action against Iran after the midterm elections

BlockBeats News,October 29, according to reporting by U.S. financial media outlet Semafor, U.S. President Trump appears willing to give diplomatic efforts with Iran another chance, but at the same time, he is seriously considering launching further military strikes after the elections.

A U.S. government official revealed that the Trump administration is currently negotiating a temporary peace agreement, but the agreement still faces many obstacles before progress can be made. Trump confirmed that Vice President Vance had written to Iran in an attempt to restart peace talks; however, Trump downplayed the move and suggested it was primarily intended to meet humanitarian needs. The government official said that if diplomatic efforts fail, the United States is prepared to resume military action shortly after the midterm elections, adding: "All that is needed is for the president to give the order." Many within the government are skeptical about resuming military action against Iran. The official said that Trump is the person "most open" to escalating military action, but even he himself has reservations.
