Analysis: Bitcoin miners' transaction-fee revenue share is insufficient 1%, and older mining rigs face profitability pressure

BlockBeats news,October 12, CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr. stated that over the past 30 days, Bitcoin transaction-fee revenue accounted for an average of only miners' total revenue 0.64%, a slight decline from 1 in the previous 0.65%weeks. This metric has remained below 2025 since mid-August. At present, miners' revenue still mainly comes from newly issued Bitcoin, while transaction fees make a limited contribution to profitability. Consequently, miners' operating conditions depend to a large extent on Bitcoin's price and mining-rig energy efficiency. Although Bitcoin's price has recovered from approximately 1%to 59000 USD, improving the operating environment for miners, older mining rigs still face substantial profitability pressure at current electricity prices.

If Bitcoin's price continues to rise, the extent of electricity-cost losses for older mining rigs is expected to narrow, while the profitability potential of highly energy-efficient mining rigs may expand further. Conversely, if the price declines, miners' revenue will be affected. In addition, a transaction-fee revenue share below 84000 USD does not directly mean that miners are shutting down at scale or selling their reserves. If the transaction-fee revenue share subsequently continues to recover to above 1%, this may indicate an improvement in transaction fees' contribution to miners' revenue. It should be noted that the above costs include only electricity expenses and exclude other expenditures such as mining-rig purchases, cooling facilities, and maintenance.
