Manus Founder: Actively preparing the domestic version, with the product consistently positioned as a general-purpose agent
Beating News AI news flash,Manus founder Xiao Hong stated in a post that Manus was created before Codex and Claude Cowork had appeared on the market, and its product positioning has always been that of a “general-purpose agent.” He compared Manus to “the business of selling computers”: users may purchase a computer mainly for work, but if it cannot play videos or run games, their experience will be rather limited. Therefore,Manus should not be limited to office tasks.
Regarding creative capabilities, Xiao Hong believes that video and gaming are important settings for unleashing creativity, and these capabilities also need to be improved through the local client,Manus Studio. He explained that all Cue-related videos were produced entirely through Manus Studio, without using a video-generation model. Instead, the agent first wrote code, which was then converted into video. With cloud-computer capabilities,Manus can also create multiplayer games that support participation by users and their friends.
Regarding infrastructure,Manus cloud computers can provide cloud-based Linux, Mac, and Windows environments. Xiao Hong said that what he likes most is that when the agent operates a computer in the cloud, it no longer competes with the user for the mouse cursor on the local device. He expects that, in the near future, individuals will be able to control large-scale computing clusters to satisfy their curiosity and conduct experiments and exploration in mathematics, science, and other fields.
Regarding Cue, Xiao Hong described it as an entity with its own mobile phone number, email, payment capabilities, computer, and sufficient intelligence. He proposed that if such agents could be regarded as “people,” more forms of higher-level interaction might emerge, such as groups jointly involving multiple users and robots.
Xiao Hong said that an open ecosystem overseas makes it relatively easy to build a good product experience.Manus is currently actively preparing the domestic version. He also said that he had originally thought Manus’s journey might become merely a footnote in the industry’s development, but it may now have the opportunity to help write an entire chapter.
