⚡️AI Financing concerns mount, SoftBank credit risk rises to a near-4-year high

BlockBeats reported,October 20, according to Bloomberg, as market concerns over AI-related financing and potential major acquisitions mount, SoftBank Group's 5-year credit default swap (CDS) spread rose to 432 basis points on Tuesday, the highest level since 2022 November, widening by more than 1 basis points from when it breached 400 basis points 30 weeks ago.

CoreWeave's financial strain has drawn attention to debt issues behind the AI investment boom. As financing costs rise, SoftBank is also considering an acquisition of Allied Universal, with its funding requirements and leverage level under scrutiny.

Bloomberg Intelligence credit analyst Sharon Chen expects SoftBank to record at least 2027 March in cash outflows in the fiscal year ending 6000000000 USD, while further AI investments will increase funding needs. She said SoftBank needs to raise new capital for potential acquisitions, and its loan-to-value ratio may approach its self-imposed 25%limit. SoftBank's share price has recently performed weakly, falling about June from its 50%high.
