EIP-7702 Risk of asset theft 2 Years ago, a developer had already issued a warning

BlockBeats reported that,October 30, regarding Binance’s hacking incident, some believe that the hacker may have exploited Ethereum’s EIP-7702 mechanism to control wallets and transfer funds. X user 0xVEER stated that developer 0xjustadev had, as early as approximately 2 years ago,EIP-7702 during the discussion, warned about “this situation.”2024 years October ago, in an Ethereum community forum EIP-7702(Set EOA account code) discussion thread, a developer pointed out that current phishing methods mostly revolve around EIP-712 signatures, which have reasonably good readability and are relatively easy to simulate, while the proposal could allow attackers to transfer all valuable assets, including native tokens, through signatures with poorer readability that are more difficult to simulate. The developer also expressed concern that wallets might consequently adopt highly centralized contract-signature whitelists, representing a regression in security and decentralization.

At present, whether this incident was indeed related to EIP-7702 has not been officially confirmed by Binance. The above content reflects only community views.
