[Kazakhstan court issues injunctions against Coinbase, BingX and other unlicensed platforms]
The Astana International Financial Centre Court (AIFC) has issued injunctions against unlicensed cryptocurrency platforms, prohibiting them from providing digital asset services locally and extending access restrictions to app stores. The Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) said Tuesday that the court made the rulings after the regulator sued the relevant platform operators for providing digital asset services without authorization.September 15's order specifically names BingX,Bitcoin.com、Huobi Global(HTX)、BitMart、Coinbase, LBank, and WEEX;3 A subsequent amendment removed LBank from the list because its operator had blocked access for users in Kazakhstan. Google and Apple, as app store operators, were also included and must impose geographically based access restrictions on the remaining platforms.AFSA stated that users of unlicensed platforms lack protections that licensed institutions should provide, including asset protection, disclosures, complaint handling, and dispute resolution. The National Bank of Kazakhstan regulates digital asset service providers outside AIFC.AFSA CEO Evgeniya Bogdanova said the court ruling was the result of the institution's long-term, ongoing efforts by its supervision and enforcement teams to address unlicensed crypto platforms' unauthorized advertising and provision of digital asset-related services in Kazakhstan without permission.AFSA said that, in 2025, it had issued warnings to 20 platforms. Of these, voluntarily restricted app access in the country, and expressed an intention to apply for licenses. The institution withdrew its claims against those, and the injunctions will be enforced against the remaining. Cointelegraph Kazakhstan's financial regulator 2023 had previously blocked nearly 1000 cryptocurrency exchanges that were not registered as required but provided services to the country's citizens.
