Cross-border payments company Conduit sues Tether, demands unfreezing 2760000 USD USDT and damages

BlockBeats reports,October 7, cross-border payments company Conduit has sued Tether in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleging that the latter froze funds worth 2760000 USD worth USDT for more than 1 years without providing a reasonable explanation or releasing the funds. Conduit is seeking to have the relevant funds unfrozen and is additionally claiming at least 2760000 USD.

Conduit said the frozen wallet was equivalent to the company's “operating bank account,” and that the freeze stemmed from a Brazilian police investigation into its former client Onix Intermediações. However, Conduit said law enforcement never requested that its funds be frozen, and a Brazilian court also confirmed that Conduit was not under investigation in connection with the case.

Conduit also said that Onix had not used its platform since 2025 April and that the wallet in question was created approximately 1 months later and had never held Onix funds. The company said the frozen funds had affected its business operations, while Tether could still earn returns from the reserve assets corresponding to the frozen USDT.
