First PEPE spot ETF Taking shape? Canary advanced its listing application this month
BlockBeats reported that October 28, a U.S. asset management institution,Canary Capital on April 8, 2026 submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a Canary PEPE ETF's S-1 registration statement, and on October 2 submitted amended documents (S-1/A). The fund intends to directly hold PEPE tokens and plans to list on the Cboe BZX trading platform, with custodians including BitGo.
This application is one of the issuer's attempts to incorporate Meme coins into regulated products following the approval of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF products. The amended documents specify details including the trust structure, investment objective (providing PEPE price exposure after operating expenses) and the size of the issuance baskets, but SEC has not yet announced that the registration statement is effective, nor has it made an approval decision. There is currently no fixed approval deadline. The market expects that the process may advance further, but the approval outcome remains uncertain.
Although the ETF application news has repeatedly drawn market attention and at times driven PEPE price volatility, the product remains under regulatory review as of now. Investors cannot yet obtain PEPE spot exposure through traditional securities accounts and must continue to monitor SEC subsequent document updates and final decision.
As previously reported, Justin Sun traded 2 years later PEPE again. Associated addresses currently hold a total of 11800000000000 units of PEPE, at an average purchase price of 0.000004114 USD.
