DDoS Defense pioneer ventures again:a16z led by 38000000 USD, building a AI Agent-version Tailscale

Beating AI Flash reports that DDoS defense pioneer and Prolexic founder Barrett Lyon has launched doxx.net and completed a 38000000 USD Series A funding round, led by a16z.

It can first be understood as a Tailscale built for AI Agent. It puts computers, servers, and Agents on the same private network, then determines who can connect to whom and who can access what.

For example, Tailscale can securely connect a MacBook and a Mac mini, while restricting which devices and ports can access each other. With doxx.net, the Agent running on the Mac mini can also be managed separately. For example, it can be allowed to connect only to a certain server and access a certain service, while other machines are denied access entirely.

Its biggest difference from Tailscale is that the Agent is not merely connected to the network; it can also modify the network configuration itself. It can connect devices, modify firewalls, create internal domain names, and even complete network setup itself. The official product even allows users to hand the configuration interface directly to the Agent, letting it complete these tasks on its own.

This design is mainly intended for long-running Agents. In the future, Agents will remain on computers and servers, deploy services themselves, and call API, while their permissions continue to grow. doxx.net aims to manage these permissions separately, so that each Agent can access only the machines and services it is supposed to access, with access revoked directly when no longer needed.

doxx.net also operates its own IP addresses,DNS, certificate system, and network infrastructure, and provides encrypted communication between devices. The product is currently open for testing.
