GPT-6.1 Terra released: Computer-use benchmark catches up with Astra, Token unit price is only one-tenth
Dongscha Beating AI Breaking news, OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra, focusing on cheaper and faster computer use. The model can understand screens, fill out forms across applications, process invoices, understand engineering drawings, and edit videos.API charges per million input and output Tokens are 1 USD and 5 USD, while the previous-generation GPT-5.6 Terra was 2 USD and 12 USD.
In OpenAI's Agents' Last Exam professional-task benchmark, the new Terra scored 15 percentage points higher than the old version in the medium-reasoning tier, while the cost per question was only about one-third. In this benchmark, it even matched the flagship GPT-6 Astra, with a Token unit price of only one-tenth of the latter, and completed tasks more than three times faster than Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
Third-party evaluation organization Artificial Analysis also verified its improved cost-effectiveness. The new Terra achieved a composite intelligence score of 48 points, higher than the old version's 42 points, but still lower than Sol's 52 points. In the highest-reasoning tier, the organization measured the average cost per question as falling from 1.40 USD to 0.40 USD. Its low- and medium-reasoning tiers entered the cost-efficiency frontier of current models.GPT-6.1 Terra is now available in ChatGPT Work, Codex, and API, with Work and Codex access open to Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users.
