EIP-8363 Withdraw from the Ethereum Hegotá upgrade and proceed separately ETH Issuance mechanism discussion
BlockBeats news,October 1,EIP-8363 co-author Jerome de Tychey stated that the proposal would be withdrawn from consideration for inclusion in the Hegotá upgrade.EIP-8363 quickly became one of the Ethereum-Magicians forum’s most-discussed proposals ever, receiving more than 200 comments within several weeks. As the Hegotá “consideration” (CFI) process progressed, various industry participants and Ethereum core protocol and client contributors believed that discussions about the upgrade scope were not suitable for determining adjustments to issuance policy. The relevant teams therefore decided not to continue promoting the proposal for inclusion in Hegotá.
Jerome de Tychey stated that the team still stands by the original intention of EIP-8363 to propose adjustments to issuance policy, believing that an excessively high staking ratio could affect Ethereum’s security, neutrality, and resistance to capture, while also potentially weakening the role of ETH as money. Five main issues currently exist in the community regarding the proposal, including the impact of different staking ratios on network security, the impact of changes in staking yields on related industries, whether the existing issuance curve is suitable as an adjustment tool, possible changes in validator composition, and the impact of lower staking yields on solo stakers.
He stated that the team had previously held extensive discussions on the above issues on the Ethereum-Magicians forum and had made concessions and adjustments to some proposals. To build broader consensus and formulate a more comprehensive ETH issuance policy, the team believes it is necessary to establish a dedicated process independent of specific network upgrades and invite participation from the community and industry stakeholders. Some organizations, including Lido, have expressed willingness to help advance this work, and the team has also begun designing a process for multi-party participation.
