HKEX will publish a consultation paper in the fourth quarter on extending trading hours in the cash market

BlockBeats News,October 9, Julia Leung, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (ASIFMA) said in a speech at an Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA) conference on Friday that Hong Kong is studying measures to reform market microstructure, including extending securities trading hours, which will first be implemented in the derivatives market. This will help investors respond promptly to the pace of global markets across different time zones and changing rapidly, ensuring that Hong Kong maintains its competitive edge. In the long term, the policy of extending trading hours will be complemented by other potential innovations, such as settlement arrangements for tokenized money and the digital Hong Kong dollar. Taken together, these measures would give investors greater flexibility to adjust positions and manage risk in response to the latest market information. HKEX will publish a consultation paper in the fourth quarter on extending trading hours in the cash market, and welcomes feedback from the public.
