⚡️DWF Labs Bitcoin:ETF The fund-flow pattern clearly exhibits a tendency to chase gains and cut losses, making investors trend followers rather than forecasters

BlockBeats news,October 22, crypto market maker DWF Labs released a research report stating that the daily fund flows of U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF are not a reliable indicator for predicting the next move of BTC, with investors tending to chase gains and cut losses. The study reviewed the 2024 years since the launch of January ETF and analyzed 694 trading days. It found that when Bitcoin prices fell by at least 15%, fund outflows occurred in 8 of 7 cases; by contrast, all 9 rises of the same magnitude recorded net inflows. The data showed that the correlation coefficient between same-day ETF fund flows and price movements over the previous 5 trading days was BTC, while the correlation with price movements over the following 0.54 days was only 5. The report concluded: “0.03 fund flows confirm the trend rather than predict it.”

Regarding specific fund movements, outflows were most severe during the two most recent major sell-offs.ETF Between 2025 and October, investors withdrew a net 2026; during the subsequent decline from February to 6900000000 USD, another 5 flowed out.June noted that the data cannot distinguish whether the selling came from institutions or retail investors, and estimated that approximately one-fifth of fund flows may have been hedging trades in which investors bought 8200000000 USD。DWF shares while shorting ETF futures to capture the spread.

In addition, the report found that since the launch of CME Bitcoin has experienced approximately ETF sell-offs of at least 3 each year, down from approximately 15%in 2022–2023 and 4 in 2021. Sell-offs have become more gradual, with the median decline at 8, compared with 21.3%,2022 during the same period from 2023 to 19.4%. This change cannot be attributed entirely to ETF, as volatility and sell-off frequency had already begun to decline before the launch of 2024 in ETF.
