QCP:AI Credit risk is rising, and Bitcoin may see a range breakout
BlockBeats reports,October 19,QCP released its latest market analysis, stating that Bitcoin mainly traded last week between 80000 and 83000 USD in a range, with strong support near 80000 USD. Meanwhile, technology stocks remain under pressure, and CoreWeave's 5-year credit default swap (CDS) spread widened to more than 1100 basis points, highlighting market concerns over debt-financed AI infrastructure construction and putting pressure on semiconductor-sector valuations.
On the macro front, U.S.CPI data exceeded expectations, pushing the 2-year U.S. Treasury yield close to 4.9%and the -year yield above 5.3%, before defensive buying subsequently drove yields lower across maturities. Although the PPI data released on Thursday remained strong, selling pressure in U.S. Treasuries did not persist. Following Federal Reserve Chair Warsh's remarks on Friday, market expectations for October rate hikes fell to around 15%, below less than 30%at the start of the week. Lower yield expectations provided some support for risk assets such as Bitcoin.
In terms of market capital rotation, investors are shifting from semiconductors into defensive sectors such as healthcare and banks. The UK FTSE index, which has a lower technology-stock weighting, has recently outperformed U.S. equity indices with greater technology exposure. Recovering demand for long-dated U.S. Treasuries and Bitcoin's relative resilience may reflect a reduction in concentrated exposure to the AI theme, though there is currently no evidence confirming that institutional capital is directly flowing into the crypto market.
Regarding volatility, Bitcoin implied volatility across all maturities is below the average level of the corresponding distribution over the past 1 years. Market makers' positive Gamma positions may help keep prices within the established range, but as options expire and related positions are gradually unwound, this stabilizing effect may weaken, making Bitcoin more sensitive to new catalysts.QCP noted that if U.S. equity deleveraging continues, pressure may spill over into the crypto market and threaten the 80000 USD support level. Conversely, continued strength in U.S. Treasuries, alongside falling real yields and a weaker USD, could support risk assets. If Bitcoin breaks sustainably through the 80000 to 88000 USD range, both spot prices and implied volatility could undergo more pronounced repricing.
