Morgan Stanley survey: Chinese companies’ requirements for purchasing humanoid robots 100000 within 3-year payback

BlockBeats reports that October 26, Morgan Stanley’s latest survey shows that Chinese companies’ willingness to purchase humanoid robots continues to rise, but the pace of commercialization has slowed, with cost and return on investment becoming key barriers. Among the surveyed companies, 64%plan to launch humanoid robot pilot or large-scale projects in the next 3 years, but deployment timelines for robots overall have been delayed by approximately 1 years.

The survey shows that 72%of potential buyers believe that the unit price of a robot must be below 100000 yuan CNY to be viable for broad adoption, higher than the 2025 years’53%;82%require a payback period of no more than 3 years, while the average acceptable payback period is approximately 26 months.

In terms of applications, manufacturing and logistics warehousing remain the primary deployment scenarios, with strong demand for material handling, packaging, and palletizing. However, companies’ satisfaction with existing products has declined, with only 18%of potential buyers expressing satisfaction with the performance of current humanoid robots.

In terms of brands, Unitree Robotics remains the most closely watched integrator, but the proportion of respondents planning to purchase its products in the next 3 years fell from 2025 in 60%to 32%. Morgan Stanley believes that vendors able to demonstrate improved production efficiency, meet reliability requirements, and deliver clear returns on investment will have better opportunities to drive the commercialization of robots.
