Public security authorities dismantle a transnational scam ring involving the fraudulent “unfreezing of ethnic assets,” with more than 6 billion yuan involved

PANews reported on September 23, citing China Central Television (CCTV) News, that since July this year, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, public security authorities in Jilin dismantled a transnational scam ring involving the fraudulent “unfreezing of ethnic assets” and arrested 101 criminal suspects domestically. At the same time, they conducted international law-enforcement cooperation with police in Laos, Singapore, and Cambodia, with police in the 3 countries collectively arresting 156 criminal suspects. Recently, the relevant suspects have been repatriated to China in succession. In January this year, Jilin public security authorities identified, through analysis, a criminal group conducting transnational scams involving the fraudulent “unfreezing of ethnic assets.” The group fabricated false “national projects” such as “Fuxing Huijin,” “Elderly Care Initiative,” “China Strengthening Agriculture,” “People’s Livelihood Protection,” and “China Dream Fulfillment”; hired technical teams to develop scam-related apps; used online platforms to attract traffic and recruit members; and for an extended period carried out scams targeting elderly people. The number of victims was substantial, and more than 6 billion yuan was involved.
