Reason lets Claude Code and Codex assign work across computers: they can communicate with each other, but cannot yet automatically prevent code conflicts
Dongcha Beating AI Breaking News,YC-incubated AI programming company Reason has launched Reason Network, enabling programming agents from different vendors, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and OpenCode, to Agent communicate directly and assign tasks across computers. For example, you can have Grok Bot assign work to Claude Code on your own computer, then have Codex on a colleague's computer review the code.Agent can directly send and receive messages without humans repeatedly relaying them.
Its core is a real-time-updated Agent directory. Developers can see which Agent are online in the team, which repository they are modifying, which branch they are using, and what they are currently working on. Programming agents such as Claude Code and Codex Agent can receive messages directly in existing sessions without opening a new chat. Each computer runs a lightweight background program, enabling direct communication within the same local area network. Across networks, it first attempts to establish a peer-to-peer connection; if that fails, messages are transmitted through an encrypted relay.
However, Reason's advertised capability to avoid code conflicts has not yet been fully implemented. GitHub design documents show that functionality to automatically detect multiple Agent modifying the same file simultaneously has not yet been developed. At this stage, it mainly relies on shared work status, allowing Agent to coordinate proactively, and cannot automatically prevent code overwrites.Reason Network's underlying communications engine is developed using Rust, originates from the existing open-source project tincan, and uses the MIT or Apache 2.0 license.
