Technology giants including Tesla will report earnings this week, testing the durability of the U.S. stock-market rebound

BlockBeats reported that,October 20 U.S. technology stocks rebounded on Monday after a heavy sell-off, but whether the market can truly stabilize still depends on whether this week's earnings reports from major technology companies can demonstrate that the profit outlook for the artificial intelligence investment boom remains solid. Earnings from major technology companies including Meta Platforms and Tesla will be a key test this week, while SpaceX also plans to report earnings after the market closes on Tuesday.

Ajay Rajadhyaksha, Chairman of Barclays Global Research, said technology companies' earnings reports are crucial this week. Given that recent share-price movements remain fragile, Barclays has shifted its stance on risk assets to neutral.

Katie Stockton, founder of Fairlead Strategies, also noted that the S&P 500 Index and the Nasdaq Index need to hold key support levels this week; otherwise, this could further confirm a market breakdown. However, she believes broadly prevalent short-term oversold conditions are temporarily helping support the market.LNW Chief Investment Officer Ron Albahari said that companies viewed as AI beneficiaries of artificial intelligence investment need to demonstrate that actual earnings can meet the growth expectations already priced into their share prices. He believes the risk in this market cycle may not be a valuation bubble like that of the dot-com era, but rather a bubble in earnings expectations themselves.

Sameer Samana, Head of Global Equities and Real Assets at Wells Fargo Investment Institute, views the recent adjustment in AI artificial intelligence-related trading as a "reality check," rather than a complete collapse of the broader rally. However, he still expects the related stocks may remain under pressure over the coming days and even weeks.

Samana said Wells Fargo had previously downgraded the technology sector because market expectations were overly optimistic. Although the recent sell-off has unwound some optimism, the adjustment may not be over and could continue around the U.S. midterm elections. He also noted that the politicization of AI artificial intelligence and data-center construction could continue to affect market sentiment.
