Franklin Templeton Plans to Launch Two “Dividend-Reinvested Bitcoin”ETF BlockBeats reports that October 26, asset management giant Franklin Templeton (Franklin Templeton) submitted a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to complete Nasdaq listing registration for its two new types of exchange-traded funds. The prospectus shows that the products’ effective date is Form 8-A, and the market generally expects trading to begin in the near term.
The two products are Franklin October 27 and Franklin US Equity Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF(ticker FBEQ) and Franklin US Innovation Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF(ticker FIBT). The former tracks the VettaFi US Large-Cap 500 Bitcoin DRIP Index, covering approximately 500 of the largest U.S. companies by market capitalization; the latter tracks the VettaFi US Innovation 100 Bitcoin DRIP Index, focusing on the 100 largest non-financial Nasdaq-listed companies. Both funds use a passive index strategy, with initial asset allocations of approximately 95%to U.S. equities and 5%to Bitcoin exposure.
The core mechanism of the products is reportedly “dividend-reinvested Bitcoin” (Bitcoin DRIP). Unlike traditional dividend reinvestment plans, these two ETF will not reinvest ordinary and special dividends generated by the stocks back into the stocks themselves. Instead, at market open on the day following the ex-dividend date, the dividend cash will automatically be used to increase Bitcoin-related exposure. Bitcoin exposure will be obtained primarily through Bitcoin exchange-traded products (including Franklin’s own spot Bitcoin ETF EZBC), futures, options, or other related instruments; the funds themselves will not directly hold on-chain Bitcoin.
To control risk, the index has established clear rebalancing rules. If Bitcoin’s weighting exceeds 5%at quarterly rebalancing, it will be reduced to 4.5%; if Bitcoin’s weighting exceeds 20%between rebalancing intervals, it must be reduced to 4.5%within two trading days. The filing shows that the management fee for FBEQ is 0.09%,FIBT and that for 0.19%is 12b-1; neither charges https://m.theblockbeats.info/flash/373673
