Former Doubao PC Head Qi Junyuan launches another venture: personal Agent product Today officially launches in China
Beating AI news: Qi Junyuan, founder of Teambition and former Doubao PC head, has launched the personal AI assistant Today in China. Today had previously opened public beta testing overseas; this is its first time opening downloads and registration to users in China.
The basic version is free forever, and new users can receive 100000000 Tokens and 1 months of Pro benefits. It currently supports Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
Today continuously reads users’ authorized emails, calendars, notes, and files, remembering important people, preferences, commitments, and unfinished items. When a task makes new progress, it can also proactively return to remind users and invoke a cloud computer to continue handling actions on webpages, files, and other applications.
In a previous hands-on test by PingWest, Today was asked to arrange an interview. It first found the contact in Gmail, then checked the calendar, recommended a time, and drafted an email, which it sent directly after user confirmation. When the other party replied the next day, the reporter gave no further instructions, and Today independently connected the new email with the interview task from the previous 1 day and continued to provide next-step arrangements.
Checking emails, viewing calendars, and sending messages on users’ behalf are no longer new capabilities. Today goes one step further by allowing a matter to remain in the system after the conversation ends. When an email reply, schedule change, or other condition arises, it returns to continue handling it. This is also where the issue lies: the more it remembers and the more frequently it acts proactively, the higher the requirements for memory accuracy, permission controls, and privacy.
