Ledger launches Bitcoin-collateralized lending, allowing users to borrow without selling BTC stablecoins.

According to BlockBeats,October 7, Ledger in Singapore TOKEN2049 announced at the conference the launch of its Crypto Loan feature, allowing eligible users to use cbBTC or WBTC as collateral to borrow USDC or USDT, gaining liquidity without selling Bitcoin.

The feature is supported by the decentralized lending protocol Morpho through technology service provider Yield.xyz. Users can create and manage loans directly in Ledger Wallet, monitor the loan-to-value ratio (LTV), add collateral, repay, or increase borrowing. Key operations still require physical confirmation through a Ledger hardware device, while users retain control of their private keys and final transaction authorization.

Ledger also announced that its hardware devices will support direct connections to Morpho without browser extensions or software wallets. The company said Crypto Loan will be gradually made available to eligible users.

This further advances Ledger's expansion from hardware wallets into financial services. Previously,Coinbase had launched Morpho-based fixed-rate Bitcoin-collateralized loans, and JPMorgan is also exploring Bitcoin and Ethereum as loan collateral.
