JPMorgan: The technology sector will still have 400000000000 USD a cash surplus this year,AI and the infrastructure investment cycle is unlikely to be disrupted
BlockBeats News,October 22, JPMorgan's latest report shows that publicly listed global technology companies are expected to generate approximately 2200000000000 USD in operating cash flow this year, with capital expenditures and research and development expenses totaling approximately 1800000000000 USD, leaving an approximately 400000000000 USD surplus after deductions, sufficient to support current AI infrastructure investment without relying on external financing.
Regarding recent market concerns over the sustainability of the financing model of emerging cloud providers (Neocloud), JPMorgan believes that their scale remains limited relative to the overall technology industry. Even if their financing comes under pressure, it would be difficult to shake the overall AI investment cycle. The report estimates that emerging cloud providers will have approximately 30000000000 USD in operating cash flow this year, while capital expenditures and research and development expenses will be approximately 80000000000 USD; if a funding gap emerges for their construction, hyperscale cloud service providers with stronger balance sheets could still take on the related demand.
In addition, JPMorgan noted that part of the technology sector's current financing needs stems from large-scale share buybacks. Companies can free up funds by reducing buybacks to maintain AI investment. Meanwhile, overall market equity positioning has retreated from its peak in mid-September, and trend-following investors' long positions in semiconductors have also been largely unwound. The bank believes that the scope for short-term market downside is gradually narrowing.
