【Digital Asset CEO Crypto industry needs to consolidate adoption before 2028 years to withstand a shift in U.S. policy】
Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz said at the Singapore Token2049 conference that the crypto industry should use the current regulatory environment to accelerate institutional adoption, arguing that widespread use of blockchain will make it more difficult for future governments to reverse the industry's progress. He compared this opportunity to Uber and Airbnb, saying that the two companies had established themselves before policymakers could effectively constrain them: “By the time people realized it and decided to legislate against these companies, it was already too late.” Rooz said the industry should make blockchain so widely used that regardless of what happens in 2028 years, “there will be no turning back.” The next U.S. presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2028 and could bring changes in government and regulatory priorities. These remarks came against the backdrop of the CLARITY bill failing to advance in a procedural vote in the Senate in September; the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC CFTC) have advanced crypto regulation under their existing authority. In a Token2049 panel discussion at the same Binance event, Binance co-CEO CEO Richard Teng said he hoped the CLARITY bill would still become law, arguing that legislation could prevent regulatory backsliding and encourage institutional participation, and described the possibility of reversing current progress as the industry's “greatest fear.” Franklin Templeton CEO CEO Jenny Johnson said that legislation would provide greater certainty, but the industry should not rely on the CLARITY bill being passed;SEC SEC and CFTC CFTC have already been working to provide regulatory clarity so that innovation and institutional adoption can continue.
