Codex Cloud Upgrade: Local tasks can now be handed directly to the cloud to continue running

Dongcha Beating AI breaking news: OpenAI rolled out a major update for Codex at DevDay.Codex Cloud You can now save a reusable cloud development environment for a project, including the code repository, dependencies, tools, and permission settings, and reuse it thereafter.

Developers can start tasks directly in the cloud, or hand work currently being handled by local Codex to Cloud to continue running. The cloud uses its own project workspace to continue modifying code and running tests, and no longer depends on the local computer once the task starts. Even if the computer goes to sleep, users can return later from the desktop, web, or mobile app to view the results and then sync the changes back locally.

Codex CLI also adds voice control and a new /agents page, allowing work to be assigned to multiple Agent. The desktop app adds Code Review, supporting GitHub PR and GitLab Merge Request, and can also hand the first round of code review to the cloud.

Codex Security Cloud has also enhanced automated security checks. It can continuously inspect new code commits or regularly scan an entire GitHub repository, investigate vulnerabilities, deduplicate findings, and prepare remediation plans. Daybreak Blue is now included directly and no separate application is required.
