South Korea’s ruling Democratic Party of Korea, opposition lawmakers, and industry groups jointly called for postponing the cryptocurrency tax plan originally scheduled to take effect in 2027 year January. Democratic Party of Korea Policy Committee member Min Byeong-deok said that starting taxation before the Digital Asset Basic Act is established lacks sufficient legal and institutional foundations, while income tracking for overseas exchanges and loss carryforward mechanisms remain underdeveloped.
