Amp integrates Claude subscriptions, replacing the underlying model directly with Claude Code Beating AI news flash,AI the programming tool Amp announced that it now supports Claude Pro/Max subscriptions and is making access available to all users for free. When creating a new task, select the “Claude Code” mode and link a Claude account. Model usage is charged directly against the existing subscription allowance, with no need to purchase credits separately from Amp.

The new mode uses Claude Agent SDK to run the official Claude Code while retaining Amp’s cloud computers, task sharing, multiplayer collaboration, and Agent orchestration features. Only this mode can use a Claude subscription; Amp’s existing Medium, High, and Ultra modes are not included. Local execution is free, while cloud computers still require payment.

Anthropic had previously restricted third-party tools from using Claude subscriptions, but this year June paused the related policy changes, and October confirmed again that third-party applications can still use subscription allowances. However, the official developer documentation still requires third-party products to obtain prior approval before providing Claude login or subscription allowances.
