Bitcoin surges before retreating, falling more than 2%, while oil prices rise to nearly a 1-month high; escalating tensions in the Middle East intensify market risk aversion

BlockBeats reports that,October 13, Bitcoin briefly rose to 84,254 USD, before retreating, with the decline at one point reaching 2.2%. Uncertainty over the prospects for an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, and other events have heightened market concerns over energy supplies. Brent crude rose intraday to 107.25 USD/barrel, its highest level since September 16, while WTI crude broke above 94 USD/barrel.

The United States will release September CPI and PPI data this week, and rising oil prices have further intensified market concerns over a rebound in inflation. Robin Brooks, formerly Goldman Sachs' chief foreign-exchange strategist, believes that given the improvement in traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, current oil prices may have priced in too high a risk premium.

In trading,QCP Capital noted that the Bitcoin options market reflects a combination of caution and bullish expectations: traders are taking defensive positions while still retaining expectations of an upside breakout. The institution said that if BTC breaks through 87,000 USD decisively, the next target could be 94,000 USD. On-chain and exchange liquidity data show that around 84,500 USD there is approximately 180000000 USD in sell-side liquidity, while around 82,000 USD there is buying support.
