Threshold Network Suspended tBTC cross-chain functionality, saying that asset reserves are sufficient and no funds have been lost

BlockBeats reported that,November 2, according to an official announcement,Threshold Network stated that tBTC minting and redemption have been temporarily suspended,tBTC is still fully backed by sufficient assets, and no funds have been lost. The cross-chain bridge wallet holds approximately 4320 units of BTC, while the amount tBTC in circulation is approximately 4,185 units, and no records of unauthorized minting or bitcoin transfers have been found. Regarding the recently disclosed Linux kernel vulnerability (CVE-2026-98432), which could allow attackers to remotely execute code on unpatched servers, all tBTC node operators have completed server patching or temporarily shut down their nodes pending the release of a fix. The team has not yet found evidence that the vulnerability was used to attack tBTC nodes.

In addition, one node operator reported that another security incident unrelated to the kernel vulnerability occurred in its overall infrastructure that day, resulting in approximately tBTC Ethereum account used by its 0.5 node to pay transaction fees being transferred out, amounting to ETH units of Threshold Network emphasized that transactions involving bitcoin in the tBTC wallet require signatures from a majority of independent operators, and a single operator cannot transfer funds alone. The cross-chain bridge will reopen after security maintenance is complete and the nodes resume operation on patched systems. The team will publish its next update within 24 hours, or sooner if circumstances change.
